Victorian Population Gambling and Health Study

Your participation
You will be asked to complete a survey including measures of demographics, current and past gambling behaviour and mobile phone use. The survey will be completed via telephone and should take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete.



What benefits do I receive for participating?
The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation (VRGF), an Independent Statutory Authority established by the Victorian Government, funds the study.
The Experimental Gambling Research Laboratory (EGRL) at CQUniversity is responsible for the design, content and management of the survey, and preparation of research and reports. 
ORC International will interview participants on the telephone, as well as providing advice on design and the production of the final report.

Confidentiality / Anonymity
All data collected will be unidentifiable and stored securely in a password protected location at CQUniversity and ORC International. In the event that you take part in an interview and supply any identifying information (such as names or locations), this information will be removed, ensuring that any notes taken are unidentifiable.
Who is involved?
Your participation will help direct resources towards suffering from gambling related harm.
Benefits and Risks
It is not anticipated that this study will pose any significant risk to the participant, nor will it provide any direct benefits. The results of the study will benefit the wider community by contributing valuable information to our understanding of safe gambling behaviour. Should you find the survey distressing in any way, please consider contacting a counsellor a Lifeline on 131 114.  

If you feel that you may experiencing a gambling related problem please contact the Gambling Helpline at http://www.gamblinghelponline.org.au/ or phone 1800 858 858. These services can be contacted anonymously without the need for a referral.
Right to Withdraw
Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and you are free to withdraw from the study at any point without question or consequence.

This project has been approved by the Human Resource Ethics Committee at CQUniversity (approval number 21134). Should there be any concerns about the nature and/or conduct of this research project please contact the Office of Research.
